I have the same problem. It took my computer 1/2 hour to reboot because of this program. What is it actually doing? Is there a way I can stop it without just killing the process? This mcafee is the first rouge program I have had on my computer :(
Probably because McAfee DataBackup is switched on by default. Go into Security center by double-clicking the taskbar icon, click Advanced Menu, then Configure and locate tools and configure it there.
Please include the following information:
What is your operating system and service pack level and are you up to date with Microsoft Updates?
Right-click your McAfee taskbar icon and go to each application and give the full details from clicking "About".
If you have the new Security Center please double-click the taskbar icon and then "View Details".
Please check this topic out for some basic steps for virus removal.

When I start Data Backup my computer slows down: http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/displaydoc.asp?frames=1&docid=406852&CategoryId=105737
How do I change the frequency or day and time of my archives?
I have the same problem and the instructions from Ex_Brit haven't led me to find the solution. I'm using the Internet Security Suite 2007. I open the security center and select advanced menu, but that's where things diverge. Perhaps the instructions apply to the 2006 version. In the 2007 suite there are BOTH Configure AND Tools menus. Neither of which has the Backup configuration inside.
I've tried opening the Backup window and it has every option imaginable about which files it wants to monitor and how often, but nothing about NOT monitoring. I'm tempted to delete the executable, I really shouldn't have to resort to that.
Never mind. I just ran the Mcafee uninstaller and was able to uninstall only the Data Backup feature happy
You have to click Exit in the top right corner, rather than click on the Close window cross (X).
