    DLP Endpoint Installation - Error 2753 - Fix

    nicholas.klebs

      I have noted on a few of our test PCs, that installing DLPe 10 or upgrading from DLPe.x to DLPe 10.y, fails with an error message stating "error code 2753".

      The only work around I was able to find initially was to uninstall DLPe 10, install DLPe 9.3, and then upgrade to the desired version of DLPe 10.

      I recently discovered a permanent fix - encase anyone experiences this issue this is what I did.

      • With DLPe 10 installed.......
      • Open a CMD prompt with elevated credentials (run as Administrator)
      • Open Regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
      • Find the entry for DLPe
        • Exapmle: {EE10E87A-DE6D-42C1-B207-1838FC4A5E52} is the registry entry for DLPe 10.0.250.92
        • Copy the command in the UninstallString value
          • Example: MsiExec.exe /X{EE10E87A-DE6D-42C1-B207-1838FC4A5E52}
      • Paste this copied command to the elevated Command Prompt and run the command
      • After the MSI uninstall is complete - REBOOT
      • You should now be able to successfully install any version of DLP 10 or 11 without getting the Error Message
        • And you should be able to successfully upgrade without a reboot to a newer version of DLPe (10.x -> 10.y)
