Moved from Support Forums to "My Account" Online
Right-click the McAfee icon over by the system clock and select "Verify Subscription" - what happens then?
Also go to your account page and make sure auto-renewal is on, assuming that's what you want.
Look in your Programs and features section of the Control Panel and if an item called McAfee Security Scan Plus is listed, uninstall it.
Auto-Renewal is on in account page.
Installed Programs: All Access and Web Adviser.
OK, try restarting...I mean power completely off and on again. do the reminders continue?
If so you have 3 alternatives:
1. We could go on trying things here such as complete uninstall/run the MCPR clean-up, reboot, reinstall
2. Try running the Virtual Technician to see if it helps at all.
3. Or from the page on 2 above look down at the left and click Contact Us and try to see if Technical Support can help, it's free of charge by phone or online chat.
Thank-you for your excellent suggestions. VT found 2 DCOM files it needed to repair; have not rebooted since attempt so wont know till later today but its still popping up (likely from memory). Honestly, if I have to uninstall McAfee to fix it, I am going to replace it with something else; I should have to do that to fix McAfee nagware! I have a bit of experience in software development, it would seem that McAfee would have a utility or regkey I could set/unset to make this go away. I could treat it like an exercise and hunt for the binary associated with the pop-up using some of the PSTools Suite, again I just don't think i should have to.
Its not too late to change my mind and not renew if this grief is going to continue into the future. Pestering a customer every hour when their renewal isn't even due for a few months in not the way to develop brand loyalty. If there are other options I am open to them at this point.
Again, thank-you for your efforts.
Well, good luck ;-)
