Why can't McAfee remove all temp files it identifies as undesireable?

    njt

McAfee LiveSafe itentified a lot of temp files to scrub on my computer, and removed all but 9. Those nine temp files were:

      McInstallTemp

      1033

      SelfProtect

      Win32

      VSCORE

      Win64

      VSCORE

      McInstrumentationTemp

So what are these files, and why can't McAfee delete them?

This happens when a file is "still in use" or to put it another way, it is still linked to a process that is ongoing.

Eventually as it is replaced it will then be deletable.

Some Windows temporary files can not be deleted and this idea can be tested by trying the following, but wait a day or two so temporary files have a chance to build up.

Click Windows key and R simultaneously to bring up the Run module.

Type in temp and click Enter

Once displayed go to Edit and "Select All" from the drop-down menu to highlight the entire list.

Click Shift + Del together (Shift delete bypasses the Recycle Bin and permanently deletes something).

Most will vanish but a few will remain (see the screenshot of mine below, click to enlarge).

Those are held for reasons given in each error notice. but you can skip those by clicking the "Do this for all current items).

Repeat the operation but this time instead of temp type in %temp%

BTW McAfee is flagging them but they may not necessarily be undesirable.
