I just got done facing the same problem. The prompt to remove Defender was preventing our imaging process from finishing because it was waiting for input. In any event, SETUPVSE.EXE /PASSIVE works without the prompt, and terminates Defender for you. Since /QUIET still prompts to remove Defender, I assume that McAfee did not test their other command line switches.
McAfee, please don't "fix" this. We need to ability to deploy the software without user intervention. If you must fix something, fix the /QUIET switch to truely be quiet.
I think I solved this one. We had the Windows Defender service set to disabled and this caused the VS 8.7i install to fail. If you set the Defender service to "manual" it works. Bit of a flaw there... which should be easy for McAfee to fix if they are aware of it.
