You can elect to do such using your 'Parental Controls Feature'.
I fully understand this but every website that has content like this ( video sharing sites with dodgy contents) will NOT be blocked so I will have to individually research and block every single site like this including every different domain e.g. .org/.tv/.com etc. of each site and that's not really doable , besides this will help many others on the future where their kids could simply bypass the block they thought was useful when in fact their kids can access content like this through obscure sites.
some sites I have found within 5 mins that should be but aren't blocked even though sexual content is turned off, the list goes on and on...
What device OS are you expecting these sites to get blocked on? Are you getting any block screens against any sites that should be blocked? for instance, if you have blocked the category "drugs, alcohol, tobacco", does the site www.budweiser.com get blocked? I'm trying to confirm that some blocking is working and that it's a purely categorization problem.
Let me take those sites back to our teams to find out why they wouldn't be classified in a way that you expect.
The obvious sites are blocked for example Budweiser is blocked when I turn on drugs and alcohol
Its more sites that aren't hard to find but aren't necessarily the most used like the ones mentioned earlier, I also believe that their should be a proxy blocker if there isn't already as that entirely counteracts this apps use and are well known now to some kids and teens
I'm running this app across 2 android OS one on Android 6.0.1 the other on 4.2.2 and controlling them with the app on a Windows 10 pc
Thanks for the reply
yes, we do try and keep up with all the new sites with all types of content. no solution is 100% perfect but we do strive to ensure that our categorization is refreshed. i'm reviewing these sites with our team to see why these sites aren't blocked.
Visibility into the sites that your kids access is another way to cover these lesser known sites that may not get picked up or categorized appropriately.
This is getting ridiculous now, I turned off all search engines but Google as many have previews that bypass this app and others and yet within five minutes of searching I found 3 sites that should be blocked
I understand nothing is perfect but it shouldn't allow websites that blatantly bypass the blocks and fit the criteria to be blocked it negates the point of the app I can't keep up with the sheer number of unblocked sites that should have been blocked, thats the point of the app something has to change because any child with even a bit of knowledge can surf the web and easily come across these bypasses and sites that negate the app and expose them to adult content. Even if I block one a simple search of sites like..." Or "unblocked/obscure ... Sites" can find a multitude of easily categorised sites that should be but aren't blocked
Hope to hear/see changes happen
I will contact Eming again. Being the weekend it may be tomorrow when he responds. He is in Canada.
Thank you for your patience.
Looking at your last post I understand you are having problems with blocking search engines and some sites are bypassing the blocked category. could you please let me know if there is a way I can reach out to you to better understand the issue you are experiencing and see how we can fix it.
