I ran into the same problem on windows 7 after updating Java to 8 update 131.
Your MWG is probably not updated and signed with a key considered too weak by this version of Java.
I downloaded Jportable, it only shows the 8u131 for download but you can edit the download link to red 121 or 111 instead of the 131.
Then either make sure you start the java applet with the portable version (I use the applet directly, not from within the browser), or have your system use the portable app as default. Portable app allows you not to have to do several uninstall and install sessions.
Hope this helps and good luck,
I get the first move but ..moved to ePO?
I think ePO is not involved while "trying to launch Mcafee Web Gateway GUI using Internet Explorer 11"
Correct me if I'm wrong
My apologies, I was asked to move it. I will move it back.
If you have the latest Java installed, probably it should work any how. Have you checked using the java official site, whether JAVA is installed and enabled properly or not.
You should receive a pop up to run the applet as you do receive while opening MWG console.
Even though the software is installed, still you might run into issues.
If this is the case just try to uninstall and reinstall.
Hope this will help.
Were you able to figure this out?
You need to use JRE 8u112. To be safe side, I used x86 version but x64 might also work.
Here's where you can download older JRE : Oracle Java Archive | Oracle Technology Network | Oracle

In 1.8u131, Oracle updated the setting jdk.jar.disabledAlgorithms to include MD5.
Prior to u131, the setting looked like this:
jdk.jar.disabledAlgorithms=MD2, RSA keySize < 1024
Removing MD5 from the jar disabledAlgorithms setting should facilitate using u131 with MWG 7.5's GUI.
