    Deploying VSE 8.7i via EPO4

      Hi,

I'm trying to deploy VSE 8.7i as per the title, however, following the instruction videos on the site and various posts/guides on how to achieve this, I'm getting the following error in the Agent Log of the machines being deployed to.

Do you have any idea what is happening here?

try running the install manually on the client. Browse to a repository folder on one of your servers and pick up the install from there.

Then you might get an error message to help pinpoint...

Possible corrupt package? Try installing it manually from the same source files that are located on the ePO server.

              • 4. RE: Deploying VSE 8.7i via EPO4

Identical problem here. Installs fine from the source files downloaded manually from the distributed repository. Our distributed repository is on a *nix/Apache-based Web server; some of our clients also seem to have filename case issues (i.e., case mismatch between the filenames in the catalog and the actual filenames causes the Agent to puke on the first file it tries to download). But curiously, not all of them.
                • 5. Re: RE: Deploying VSE 8.7i via EPO4

Could this be related to ePO's attempt to disable windows defender during install? We have the defender service disabled in our Vista build and I noticed in the VS 8.7i install logs the following

                  Detect : PRODUCT_183 = Windows Defender
                  DetectFile : C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpClient.dll
                  PRODUCT_183 = Product found
                  *Detection compeleted for : PRODUCT_183

I think that when the VS install fails to disable Defender due to the fact the service is already disabled this causes the deployment halt. If I enable the defender service and ask EPO 4.5 to deploy again, I can see the service being disabled and the install works perfectly.

So not an ideal solution but better than manual a install.

To eliminate the distributed repository as the source of the issue, point the client to the master repository. You can do this by disabling all but the master repository in the McAfee Agent policy, waking up the agent, then try the deployment again.

Other than that, you can check the McScript.log for further messages.

                      Hey guys,

I am trying to deploye 8.5 via ePO 4 on client's machines from the domain server.

Operation was successful when installed the antivirius 8.5 on ePO machine via ePO software . But when installin via the ePO on a remote machine, i would receive "an error occurred while downloading UnINST.exe" in the log file.

Did anyone experience the same error and found the correct troubleshooting for that problem?

I am running the installation on windwos server 2000
