May sound daft but have you checked that all the Mcafee services are running on your server?
Everything that appears to be related to McAfee or Network Associates is started
Even a heads up as to what .exe the update uses would be helpful as if nothing else I could setup a scheduled task to update Protection Pilot.....
As of 9.21 am UK time the dat should be 5558.0000 (Up-to-date) and the eingine 5300.2777 (Up-to-date), this is from the PrP console, home tab. from there I take it; it says last update unsuccessful? Check in the event logs for DCOM errors around the schedualed update time.
Nope mine says DATA version 5556.0000 (Up-to-date) and Engine version 5300.2777 (Up-to-date) it no where mentions that the last update was unsuccessful
What makes this even weirder is that today at least the actual Virus Enterprise Software is showing as up to date 5558.0000 and the DAT created on the 19 March 2009
No idea what will be the case come Monday morning but something still isn't right
Here's a screen print just in case you need any clarification
On the console a manual update all works? Clients can update from the web which could be why the have a different dat to the server.
What have mcafee support said?
Same situation this morning, the AV itself is saying that it's up to date but Protection Pilot is still showing the same info from Friday i.e same Dat version, same Engine version, same time for the next scheduled update
Haven't contacted McAfee themselves yet, I thought I'd give this forum a go first
try run the virtual technician, dowloadable from the mcafee site, least this will tell you what patch level your at, if you need any patchs' download and check them in and force a push to the clients.
still does sound like a service isn't running though for the updates
