I'm a bit new to using ePO 4.5. what's the difference between a managed and an unmanaged system? I have some machines that epo reports as unmanaged but are up to date with thier DAT, engine and agent versions.

Managed means they are getting updates and policies from your ePO server. Un-Managed just means they are not. They will still connect to the internet to get their updates if they are not managed. Make sure the agent has been pushed to those machines and they can communicate back to your ePO server.
