rename agent not shown in the ePO console

What happen when Windows computers with ePO installed gets renamed.

I have have some computers that are rename, but the old name is still the "active"/present name in the ePO console.

I want the new name to be shown in the ePO console, how do I fix this. ?

Should I delete the "old" name and wait for the agent to assing once more, but what about the agents I don't know have been rename ?

Hi tcravn,

Send an Agent wake up call from the ePO server to the computers which have been renamed and see if the new name for the machines get updated in the ePO system tree.

I have tried that, didn't solve the issue.

But I think it's strange that ePO can't see the rename, without doing workarounds.

What you're describing is not normal behaviour - when a machine is renamed, it simply updates ePO with its new name.

Exactly how are the machines being renamed? Does it happen to every machine that is renamed or only some of them?

The client computers are renamed in Windows, and then reboot.

I have 2 renamed computers, where the renaming is not reflected in ePO.

This is this is the only 2 computers that I'm aware of have beeing renamed.

In that case, the next time the client machine communicates with ePO (after the reboot), ePO should be updated with the new name...

Which version of ePO, and which version of the agent, are you using?

Check the agent log on the client - has it communicated with ePO since it was renamed?

Check the properties of the machine in ePO - is the Last Communication time showing that the machine has communicated since it was renamed?

I can see in the ePO console that the agent have communicated with the ePO server, but you also want to check the agent logs ?

The agent communicated when I did the agent wakeup call.

It sounds like everything is communicating correctly...  in that case I'd recommend opening a case with Support as this will need some more investigation.
