queries about ePO DB downgrade

Team,

We have ePO 5.9.1 installed with SQL 2016 Enterprise edition. ePO and DB are on seperate servers

We need to know if we have to downgrade the SQL database from SQL 2016 Enterprise to SQL 2016 Standard edition, what are the pros and cons of it.

Is it possible to do so

What are the best practises to be followed for such activity

Do we have a kb article showing the best practises for this.

Will this affect the ePO events for the last 6 months. in the existing DB

Any changes that we will have to make manually in the ePO application console post downgrade

Will this affect the automatic responses in any way

Re: queries about ePO DB downgrade

That might be a Microsoft question, but I really don't believe that would be a good idea.  The enterprise version has additional features/schema that standard does not and when a database is in one instance of sql, it inherits that versions schema.  I don't believe you can downgrade it.  I know you can't downgrade versions, but I would suspect the same stands true for feature sets.

Re: queries about ePO DB downgrade

There is no impact on ePO Events due to version change. Maybe you have to do re-config again(under core/config), amake sure that you are not changing the server name and ip and using same credentials.

There is no McAfee KB article for downgrading the SQL version but you are not using any enterprise edition feature then you can go ahead and follow simple steps.

* Take Full backup of ePO and copy mdf and ldf files to some other location.

* Uninstall Enterprise edition and install Standard edition.

* Attach the database again.

Re: queries about ePO DB downgrade

Run this query against the epo database.

SELECT *FROM sys.dm_db_persisted_sku_features

If it returns any rows, you can't downgrade to standard.
