migrate ePO into different bits of OS

Hi All,

I have an enquiry regarding our ePO server.  I want to migrate my ePO server from physical mechine to the virtual mechine but still point to the same database server (separate database).  The things is, current ePo server is using Window Server 2003 (x86) however the new mechine already installed with Window Server 2008 (x64). Is possible for the new ePO server [Window Server 2008 (x64)]  communicate with Database server [Window Server 2003 (x86)]? Did anyone has an experience on this?

Re: migrate ePO into different bits of OS

This should not be a problem. ePO runs as a 32 bit application and database communication should be transparent and handled by the underlying ADO and Java drivers.

Re: migrate ePO into different bits of OS

Thank for you reply..This means, ePO server (x64 bit) can communicate as usual with ePO database (x32bit) without any problem?

Hopefully there is no problem for me during migration my ePO server.

Thank again Sailendra

Yes - it should be able to.
