ePolicy Orchestrator and MSME

Jump to solution
Hi We are planning to upgrade our Mail Server to Exchange 2013 SP1 running on Server 2012 R2. We are currently running EPO 5.9 on a separate 2012 R2 server and I want to install MSME on the new Exchange server. However I cannot determine if I should deploy the installation to the exchange server from the EPO or install it directly on the Exchange server using the install files and then link it to the EPO somehow. Can anyone clarify this for me and advise best practice or provide a link to the information I need. Thanks

You can install it either method you want.  As long as the epo agent on the exchange server is talking to epo, it will get the policies configured in epo for msme.  So if you upgrade the client, you need to upgrade also the extension in epo for it and make sure the policies are configured the way you want them to be.  You don't link anything, it is the epo agent that gets policies from epo for any product installed.  You just have to have the right extensions in epo for that product and assign the appropriate policies.
