Hi Team,

We want to know if upgrading the ePO server from version 2008R2 to 2012R2 will work?

Note : ePO version running with version 4.6.5 and we have few legacy machines running with OS Windows 2000 and Windows NT.

Re: ePO server OS version compatibility

Please refer to KB51569 for supported environments for epo, but epo 4.6 is no longer listed since it is end of life.  4.6 did not support server 2012.

Additionally, we do not advise to upgrade the operating system of an epo server.  See KB82672.

Re: ePO server OS version compatibility

Hi,

Appreciate your quick reply.

We also have other ePO running with version 5.9.1 and wants the OS to be upgraded to 2102R2 or later from 2008R2.

Do you know approximately as how much it takes for the complete processs ePO Disaster Recovery Snapshot and restore it?

Re: ePO server OS version compatibility

That all depends on how large your database is, how many extensions and software you have checked in, etc.  You need to first make sure you know the disaster recovery password.  If you don't know it, then you can change it in server settings, then run the snapshot recovery server task and ensure it completes.  One caveat - if you are running MOVE in your environment, follow these steps below before running that task.  Versions may vary.  You can take a look at your server task log to see about how long that takes from previous runs of it.  As for how long the restore takes once you remove it, again, that is depending on the above things.  It might take a little bit longer than a fresh install if you aren't a large environment.

1) Go to menu | automation | move av deployment
2) Click on SVM Repository and delete the _MOVE-AV-AL_SVM_OVF_4.5.1 entry
4) In windows explorer go to C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\extensions\installed\DC__GS__4000\4.7.0.130\webapp\move-sva-repo  and backup/remove the folder(s) for 4-5-1 ovf templates.
