ePO Pre-Installation Auditor 2.1.0.106

Jump to solution

Hi,

We are trying to run PIA 2.1.0.106 from our EPO server, and we have not found information on what is required from PIA as to

SQL Server Windows Credential.

In the UI there is two credential section, the first one is (SQL Server:) the SQL server it self or the database connexion and this if fine.

And the second one is (SQL Server Windows Credential)

What type of access is required on the database server to be performed by PIA. Obviously our instance is not using SQL express thus it is a remote server

and before enabling this we would like to understand whats needed.

Hope someone can help since we didin't find and viable PIA documentation in the KB.

This issue is fixed in PIA 2.2.0 ...obviously the second part of the check are not necessary in our setup (ePO -> SQL)

The anwser from support was this:

PIA requires log-on the database server to check SQL
Server disk space and SQL Server system RSA compatibility.

Hi Eric, Did you see this article? McAfee Corporate KB - SQL permissions required to install and use ePolicy Orchestrator KB75766

Typically if you give the account (sql local or active directory) db_owner rights, you should be fine.

Hi Moe,

Yes but its is not what I was referring to, I was referring to the section in RED.

The first section is working fine, access to the database it self work.

PIA running on the EPO server is trying to access to the database server using RPC, why does PIA need to log or do RPC on to the windows server hosting the database...
