ePO 4.5 and agents not talking to server

Hello, we just implemented ePO 4.5 in a virtual environment. We are able to talk with our Active Directory and synch our computers up with no problems.

Sending out the agent to the machines doesn't show anything, as I can't see any way to visibly see the installation of the agent as in 3.6, which is what we had before.

Now, I know the agent is installed on the machine because the Common Framework folder is there and I can pull up the agent with the CMDAGENT /S command. However, none of the machines can talk to our ePO server, even with all firewalls completely turned off.

I found the McAfee Virtual Technician program which I ran on the server and it came up with processes that weren't running as well as a service not running. I will attach a screen shot showing these. The Virtual Technician can start the processes but can't fix the service. My question is, am I missing files in my installation folder for ePO or missing files that I need to check in? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

RE: ePO 4.5 and agents not talking to server

Were you prev using another version of epo to manage these machines?
IF so did you back up and import the agent keys to 4.5?
How did you install the agents?
What version of agent?
if you can bring up the agent gui what does the log say there when trying to talk back to the server?
what does the agent log say here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\Common Framework\Db

thanks

RE: ePO 4.5 and agents not talking to server

I'm having the same issue, with a brand new 4.5 install, and 5 test machines on 8.7i, some with agent 4.0 and some with the beta agent 4.5. all machines and server have firewalls disabled.

Sorry. I'd assumed you'd want the exact same issues in the same thread, from my previous experiences in user forums the world over.

I'll start a new one.

RE: ePO 4.5 and agents not talking to server

Ok, we were using a different machine with ePO 3.6, however the same problem exists on machines that were brand new, as well as machines that had the agent removed.
Agent is 4.0 sent from our virtual server.
None of the gui's will pull up in a web browser
The log says:

2009-09-14 09:01:18 I #2400 Agent Bad IP address data in the registry
https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB61103&actp=search&searchid=1253692990239
which is wierd... do they have multiple IPs on the workstations? vpn? wireless?

can you ping and resolve the epo to pc and the pc to epo comms?

can you run an agent uninstall with the /forceuninstall switches and make sure the agent reg keys are clear
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\Agent
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Network Associates\TVD\Shared Components\Framework
then reinstall the agent manually from a copy of the the framepkg.exe taken from within the software respository of the epo server
eg:
D:\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\DB\Software\Current\EPOAGENT3000\Install\0409
