ePO 4.5 Patch 3 having issues with SQL server 2008 64 bit full version on windows server 2008 sp1 64bit

Hey guys,

my ePO server keeps throwing up the follwing error when trying to startup

The login   failed.

the database login credentials on ePO is set to "sa" account  and the password is correct.after testing connections,its successful.but whenever the machine restarts the above error comes up when launching the ePO application

I am running ePO 4.5 P3 on windows server 2008 sp1 64 bit with sql server 2008 64 bit full version.

I NEED URGENT HELP THANKS

Hi David,

try to restart the ePO services then check again.

I've had the same error, and in my case it was a race condition (there is some info in a McAfee KB somewhere); the ePO services are supposed to start after the SQL services.

If this restarting the ePO services fixed the problem, set the services to start to "Automatic (Delayed Start)".

I didn't have this error with SP1, but as soon I installed SP3 and rebooted the system, I had the problem.

This definitely looks like a failure to access the ePO database. Is the db really called ePO_server? can you access this db using the same credentials via Management Studio?

the db is actually  called ePO4_SSVR1,that's my database name,yes i can access it with the same credentials from management studio

Ah, OK - did you edit the error message that you posted earlier? That shows an attempt to connect to a db called ePO_server...

yes i did..but i only edited the database name..the rest is as it is...any other helpful ideas..have you experienced this somewhere else

This is a fairly common problem, but it's almost always caused by an inability to access the db (usually something like a password change.)

Is the SQL server on the same machine as ePO? Have you got the SQL browser service started? If not you can try starting that and then restart the ePO services.

Thanks kalmandee,

This workaround seemingly solved this issue,i am presently monitoring it.we hope mcafee resolves this in future patch

if you have the SQL server on different server that Epo you will have problems bocuse SQL up the services fist that Epo. Well that´s happend to me
