[ePO_4.5] Can the Master Repository path be changed from C:\Program Files\McAfee\... to another path / location?

Jump to solution

Hi All,

A customer of ours has an ePO 4.5 server running in a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 environment, and has run into problems with this server.

The problem is: The client's "IT guys" installed the ePO 4.5 server (the DB is on a separate server, dedicated to apps SQL's databases) on the server's system partition, which has a total size of 12,00 GB. The master repository and all other checked-in files reside on the default installation folder for ePO. As you may have already figured out, not only because of ePO, but mainly because of ePO, the installation folder has about 2.4 GB, the system drive has ran out of available disk space. The client wishes to change the location of ePO's master repository to another location without making a fresh installation. Is this possible?

Thank You in advance for your kind help,

Best Regards,

RC

Hi...

No, I'm afraid this isn't possible - the location of the master repo is hard-coded and can't be changed.

Sorry

Hi Joe,

Thank you for your kind reply. It looks like "bad news" but it was very useful to understand how to address the problem in another way.

Hi Joe,

Are you saying you cant change the location after installation or you cant install to a different drive/location?

Thanks Mike

You need to un/reinstall the ePO to different drive. If you do then it will be new install. There is no way to move existing server's master repository to different drive.

This is correct - you can install to wherever you like, but you can't move just the master repo after the event.

If you have virtualisation technologies (VMware/ Hyper-V)- you could try a P2V, and increase the disk size on the fly during the process. That way you could then use a partitioning utility to resize and increase the partition size.

or re-install

Whichever is a lesser evil.....

You could try NTFS mount points.

Basically you could mount a brand new fresh partition (of what ever size you want) to c:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\DB\Software and then copy the repository to the new partition.

As the mount is at the NTFS level ePO should be oblivious to the change.
