What kinds of update should be included in McAfee Agent Policy?

Jump to solution

Hi there,

At Policy Catalog for Agent (McAfee ePO), there is a tab called "updates". Under section "Update type and Repository branch to use", what kinds of updates should be selected or should I ignore all?

Here is the screenshot (sorry for not having inserted the illustrating image here due to the policy restriction).

Hello @sanba06c ,

As per the update option it will be by-default set to Current branch as that is the location where all the packages will be stored when you check-in the extension and packages, This only needs to be modified if you are storing the packages in different branch and you need systems to be updated from them.

McAfee Agent policy settings

  • Custom update log file location
NOTE: For information about log file option requirements for McAfee Agent Product update, see KB85549.
  • Specifying post-update options (runs only after a successful update)
  • Downgrading DAT files
  • Enabling automatic update of McAfee products post deployment
  • Selecting update type and repository branch
NOTE: The selected update type is considered for tasks that run post deployment of McAfee products and when you run Update Security using the system tray icon.

Hi sanba06c,

It depends how do you want to configure. If you select DAT along with product updates, whenever you checkin any product updates or patches in Current/Previous/Evaluation branch it will be deployed all the client machine automatically. If you don't want such deployment type, you can select only DAT and Malware engine.
