VirusScan/EPO : Force DAT update ?

Jump to solution

Hello,

Since I do not have a response from Support via my SR, I come to post a message here.

I want to update my DAT database (after reporting a false positive): in my EPO console, the version of "my repository" is different from the "available" database.
How to force the update please on my server so that my client stations benefit from it?

Product : VirusScan 8.8

Thanks in advance.

Hello @cpc464 ,

Its two way process that needs to be completed.

1. Update the DAT version on your epo: EPO> Menu > Server Task > Update Master Repository.

2. Apply that updated DAT to client systems: EPO> System Tree > Select all the systems > Action > Agent > update now.

When you say your DAT database are you referring to your repository and/or epo versions of the DATs? If your ePO server is up to date please run a replication task to the repositories and see if this fixes the issue.

Thanks ZGreen for your help.

From memory, the DAT base of our EPO server is 9333. The version displayed as "available" is 9335.
I want my client computers to recover the latest version so that my false positive file is no longer considered a threat.

Can you tell me how to start a replication task? I don't have the console in front of me. I prefer to take the information in advance. My SR was opened a week ago and is impacting our production

Thank you so much.

Thank you for your clear and precise answer.
However, updating the DAT recommended by Support did not solve my problem.

Your colleague had first tested to set up an exclusion (Policy Catalog > VirusScan Enterprise 8.8.0 > On-Access Default Processes Policiers) in the Windows user profile in which the file is downloaded.
The difficulty is that the name of the directory changes with each download (IIS application).
See the example below and the directory "889ZKUTG"

C: \ Users \ AccountName \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Windows \ INetCache \ IE \ 889ZKUTG \ voworddesign [1] .cab \ Vdocwo.dot \

We have made several attempts to enter the path. Like "C: \ users \ ** \ **. Dot". In vain.

Do you have an idea please ?

Hi @cpc464

That response sounds odd in combination with the issue you've mentioned tbh so I'm not sure if we are misunderstanding your problem or not.

If your Master Repository is not updating to the latest version of DAT, then as @YashT  has already stated, this will be an error with the Pull Updates task. If you run this and the Master Repository is still not updated then you'll need to look at the ePO server logs to determine why the updates aren't being pulled.

I am going to move this thread to the ePO Community so they can advise on which logs to check etc.

Hello Chealey,

Regarding the DAT update, this is resolved thanks to YashT.

1) I was just talking about the problem that led us to force this update: in this case the inclusion of a false positive in your viral databases. updating the DAT recommended by enterprise support did not resolve this point (i.e. excluding the file as a "threat").

=> I took advantage of my Post to know if you had an idea on the syntax to use when we want to exclude a path present in our user profile

Dot". In vain.

2)  Can you provide the Enterprise Support management email address?
We have a blocking SR (via our Grant Number) opened since last week: I am forced to go through the Community forum which is more reactive. We find this abnormal.

Thanks

Hi @cpc464

Ah! Thanks for clarifying. I'm glad the steps provided by @YashT helped resolve the reported issue.

In regards to your follow up question:

C: \ Users \ AccountName \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Windows \ INetCache \ IE \ 889ZKUTG \ voworddesign [1] .cab \ Vdocwo.dot \

We have made several attempts to enter the path. Like "C: \ users \ ** \ **. Dot". In vain.

I would suggest something along the lines of C:\Users\**\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\**

This would mean anything under the folder "IE" within each user profile will be excluded from scanning.

In regards to an Enterprise Support management email address, this isn't something I can share, however I would suggest reaching out to your Account Manager, who will be able to assist you on this matter.

No, unfortunately it did not work. Even excluding the subfolders.
I will close this Post as long as the original problem has been resolved.
=> Can you just tell me how to know the name of our Account Manager? We only have traditional support as a contact.

In any case, thank you for allowing us to move forward on this problem.
