VSE client tasks problem

Hi all,

I've got a strange problem with VSE 8.8 client tasks on only one workstation.

I've created couple of client tasks for VSE in ePO 4.6 and all of my computers are receiving and running them properly.

But one computer is receiving those tasks (through McAfee Agent 4.6 ) but those tasks are not displayed in the VSE console and those tasks are not running; this computer can only apply one task called "autoupdate_startup".

Please check the Agent log below:

For example, the log says that task called "av_scan_weekly" was added to scheduler, but it's not visible in the VSE console and this task will not run (this task is visible on all other computers).

Only the task "autoupdate_startup" is added to the console.

Of course the option to show client tasks in the VSE console is enabled in ePO.

I've already tried to un-install VSE and Agent from this PC and also I've removed the system and added it back to ePO - but the problem still persists.

Could you please help me to resolve this problem?

Thank you.

Re: VSE client tasks problem

Hi,

Just to check some (more or less obvious) ideas

Could you confirm that

- this WKS has the same Agent and VSE version as all other wks ?

- the wks has same policy as other wks where it works ?

Especially the VirusScan Enterprise 8.8.0 > General Options Policies(formerly User Interface Policy), either this WKS has the same policy as all other wks, or make sure it has a policy that specifies "Display managed tasks in the client console" (this is a VSE policy!)

If you're lucky it could be as simple as that... ?

otherwiese we'll see for more complex things

Regards

  Serge

Re: VSE client tasks problem

Hi Serge,

Thank you for your reply.

I confirm and I'm answering YES to all your questions.

Let's try those more complex things 😉

Re: VSE client tasks problem

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling VSE? Its a copout but it will be most likely the next step.

Re: VSE client tasks problem

Yes, I've already uninstalled VSE and McAfee Agent from this computer and I've removed it from ePO and added it again by deploying the Agent - still the same...

Re: VSE client tasks problem

Hi - do you have any updates on this issue?  Am experiencing the same issue - however, running Agent 4.5 and VSE8.7i.  And the issue is impacting only a % of the devices.

Re: VSE client tasks problem

As a thought  - is the install a clean install or an 'upgrade' and if its an upgrade did you select 'preserve old settings' - wondering if the device is an old one which has been updated (1 or 2 times) and the legacy settings have not been cleared away?

Re: VSE client tasks problem

Hi,

No updates on this problem; I consider re-installing the operating system on this computer (Win7x64 SP1); this is only one PC out of 70.

I've un-installed VSE and then I did a clean install, so the legacy settings were not preserved.
