Use queries to run client task

Hi folks

Since our ePO server (Win2k3 x86) does not allow to update we're currently installing a new server.

I've already done most of the configuration but one point left is to assign the client tasks in the system tree.

We decided to sync the system tree with our AD.

Unfortunately we have about 5 domain and lots of OUs.

And of course not all systems/OUs should have assigned the same tasks.

Is there a way to assign client tasks on base of a query?

I assume it's possible if I use a server tasks (like I did to deploy the agents).

But is this the right way?

Once I install the components with server tasks I wont be able to see the assignements in the system tree.

Moved to ePO for better support.

Hi moep, if your current ePO server is a 4.6 then you can export all task assignments and import them into the new server.

If youwant to do this you'll have to export all the system tree structure (including computers if you have tasks assigned to individual computers) to the new server so the tasks asignments match the new system tree

Thanks for your answer. I already considered that option.

Unfortunately the export from ePO 4.6 can be imported only server with the same OS.

On the other hand ePO 5.0.1 requires Win 2008 x64 or newer... so there's know way to beside installing a new server.

I just discovered the "Product Deployment" in my console.

I'll check out if that could be the solution I'm looking for

Product Deployment seems to work for me so far.

Policies can be assigned with the Policy Assignement rules

That means I can tag all my systems and use the tags for all assignements I need
