Upgrading from 5.3.3 to 5.9.1

Hello All,

Can someone share all the required hotfixes that I need after the 5.9.1 version upgrade?

I see 4 or 5 hotfixes in the product download section. I want to make sure I download only the one that I need.

Greetings for the Day!

Hotfixes are released in two scenarios, first when there is a security update within the product and second when there is a product functionality changes/fix.

Security fixes are important that needs to be applied, and regarding the product functionality fixes if you are using those functions and its not working properly then you should consider applying those hotfixes to make it work accurately.

Below are all the list of hotfixes and the content which will help you to differentiate, if that is for security or for product, based on that you can proceed to apply the same.

 

HF1267793  4-July-2019   This hotfix resolves an TLS issue between McAfee ePO Agent Handler and SQL server. For more information, see McAfee Security Bulletin SB10286.

HF1271813  2-july-2019   This hotfix updates McAfee ePO JRE to 1.8.0.212, which addresses a security issue. For more information, see CVE-2019-2602 and McAfee Security Bulletin SB10285.

HF1260432   27-nov-2018  Updates ePO Tomcat to v7.0.91, which addresses the following security issue. . For more information, see CVE-2018-11784 and McAfee Security Bulletin SB10257

HF1241557  07-Aug-2018   Hidden audit policies now correctly appear on the Policy Catalog page. Imported multi-slot policy assignments now assign as expected. Assigned multi-slot policies now appear when set to disable. Deleting a policy assignment at a group or system level no longer results in the policy assignment at the next level in the inheritance tree being removed.

HF1229850  14-Jun-2018   This hotfix addresses the following security issues: CVE-2018-6671 CVE-2018-6672

HF1226775r  31-May-2018     Resolves an issue where agents fail to communicate after migrating certificates using Certificate Manager and activating the new certificate. For additional information see Knowledge Base article KB90182.

The Apache service stops on the ePolicy Orchestrator server after assigning a new Host Intrusion Prevention Rule policy to a client. For more information see Knowledge Base article KB90271

Resolves an issue involving Solidcore on clients running McAfee Agent 4.x where Solidcore policies are not enforced after installing ePO 5.9.1 HF1226775..

HF1238521  07-May-2018    This hotfix updates ePO JRE to v1.8.0_171, which addresses multiple security issues. For more information, please visit the links provided: • CVE-2018-2794CVE-2018-2783CVE-2018-2796CVE-2018-2799CVE-2018-2797CVE-2018-2795CVE-2018-2815 • McAfee Security Bulletin SB10234

Additionally, if there is a hotfix that updates Java (jre), Tomcat or Apache, you only need install the latest one.

DO we need to apply the hotfix on the Agent Handler as well since we have a separate Agent Handler?

If any HF is applicable for the Agent Handler in that case please apply the HF on AH.

Be sure to read the release notes for each hotfix - they will tell you whether a specific hotfix needs to be installed on the agent handler or not.
