I am installing a fresh server on a fresh OS, all updates from Microsoft Update and I am receiving the error below.
I could not find anything in the KB on this.
OS = Windows 2003 R2 w/ SP2 32bit dB = included install updated to SP2
Setup has encountered the error:
FAILURE: In LaunchAppAndWait while trying to run the following program:
For more information, search for the error in the EPO400-Install-MSI.LOG file, located in the logged-on user’s Temp directory. (Note: Close Setup before searching this log file to ensure all data is written to it.)
Depending on the error, more information may be available in the log files listed below.
Using extended or double-byte characters in the global administrator or database user name or password might prevent the software from installing successfully. To workaround this issue, install the software using a Domain User that has a “simple” password. After the installation, log on to the ePO server, go to https://<SERVER>:8443/core/config, change the credentials to a User Account with a “complex” password, then restart the ePO services.
We have run into the exact same problem running an ePO 4.0 install on a VMWare hosted servers (Windows 2003 R2 SP2 32bit) with a SQL 2005 enterprise database instance on a separate enterprise SQL server.
The worst part - I did the install remotely while in a McAfee training course, and my trainer was unable to indentify the source of the failure.
