Transfer systems from an old 4.6 ePO server to a new 4.6 ePO server

Jump to solution

We would like to transfer our system from one 4.6 ePO server to a new 4.6 ePO server. I know that we can simply push the agent from the new one (which I've been doing) but we also have machines that have Endpoint encryption installed and it seems like transferring the system using the "Transfer system" function might be the way to do it for those machines.

The documentation isn't really clear on how to do it except for the.. go to system tree and select transfer system.

My question is regarding the preparation to get to that point. I assume that the steps are :

1- Register the new ePO on the old one.

2- Transfer or share policies from the old one to the new one

3-  Select "Transfer System" on the desired agents to be pushed to the new one.

Are there any other steps or am I missing something ? Do I need to export certain keys ?

I'd strongly recommend asking the same question in the EEPC forum, if you haven't already done so. I'm not an EEPC expert but I know that you need to be careful when transferring machines from one server to another - otherwise it's possible to lose the list of assigned users, and have to recover the client machines. From what I understand as long as you follow a set process then there shouldn't be any problem.

Thanks, I will do  that !

But for only transfering systems, what steps would you recommend to do in order to prepare the servers to be able to transfer systems ?

Hi Bblanchard,

If you are going to install same version of Windows OS and same IP & Hostname as old on a new server then we can simply refer the article KB66616.

If the current ePO is on 32bit Windows OS and new is going to be on 64bit Windows OS then we can simply refer article KB71078.

There should not be any additional steps for eepc but still as Joe said it's better to check with EEPC expert once.
