Systems showing up in two ePOs...

I work in a large corporation that had two separate division merge into one. Both divisions have around 2500 users and each have their own ePO instance. Each ePO is synced to a specific OU in Active Directory, that both divisions are part of.

Since the merger, I have anywhere from 5-20 machines in each Lost & Found that clearly belong in the other ePO. I know the reason is typically due to desktop support not using a specific Agent on specific machines and I am working to resolve that.

My question is, once these systems are identified and I am able to use SCCM and or Tanium to push the correct Agent to these systems, and the system now shows up in the correct ePO, will the wrong ePO now drop these systems from Lost & Found during a sync or do I have to manually remove them? I understand that I can manually remove them, but will ePO be 'smart' enough to recognize that the system's previous agent has been overwritten and now points to another ePO? Thanks

Re: Systems showing up in two ePOs...

If you have configured in your ad sync point to remove the system from epo if the system is removed from AD, they should then be removed on sync.  So if the system doesn't exist in that ou that the sync point is set to use, then it won't see it and epo should then remove it.  Just don't check the box to also remove agent.

Hi, thank you for the reply.   How would that work if the systems are in Lost & Found, which isn't synced to AD?

Re: Systems showing up in two ePOs...

hmm, never tested that since a specific group is linked to only a specific ou.  It might not, in that case.  Is your sync importing them as a flat list or container structure?  Is it set to move systems to the synchronized group, or leave them in their current system tree location?  If you are not specifically telling the sync to move systems, then you could potentially set up some sorting criteria on your groups to ensure they go to the right containers.
