Super Agent - Endpoints take long time to download updates

Jump to solution

we have one super Agent located in different data center than ePO and DB. For some reason it takes long time to update and download packages when you hit update now from ENS console.

Super Agent was disabled from repository list by admin. Servers were updating over the internet instead of from super agent located in local network.   All is good now.

If you do a tracert from a client that is taking a long time to that superagent repository, is it significantly longer than to one of the other repositories or epo?  On the superagent, in c:\programdata\mcafee\agent\logs, are there timeouts or errors in the macmnsvc log?  Is there a proxy or firewall in between that superagent and the clients?  The tracert should show that by identifying all the ip's in the path.

What version of the agent on the sa repo?

It depends on what client machines are downloading.

If they are downloading incremental update files (gem files, few kb files) then will complete faster but if downloading complete DAT (more than 100 MB) then will take bit of time.

We can verify from client machine's Mcscript log.

Tracert is 1ms

What do I need to check from Mcscript log?

look for any failures and also look at time stamps for when it first starts downloading content vs when it actually finishes.  You can also test by downloading a file manually in the browser (url is in mcscript log) for any files that take a longer time than others.  Identifying what specifically is taking longer than others is the main thing to start with.  Did the tracert show any ip's that might be a firewall or proxy?
