SQL Express Maintenance and purging database under ePO 5.1

We are going to migrating the ePO 4.6.7 server to ePO 5.1 in the next few weeks. On the ePO 4.6.7 server, I reindex and remove unused space in the SQL Express 2005 database once a week using the command line script below that uses sqlmaint.

sqlmaint -S VBRHM1A\SQLEXPRESS -D ePO4_VBRHM1A -RebldIdx 15 -UpdOptiStats 15 -RmUnusedSpace 50 10

I noticed that when we upgrade from SQL Express 2005 to SQL Express 2008 R2 that this script no longer runs. It will display the error listed below;

The SQLDMO 'Application' object failed to initialize (specific error: One of the

library files needed to run this application cannot be found.

Has anyone every come across this error and what it the best way to resolve it. Can't find any info on the McAfee KB regarding purging database with ePO 5.x.

Possibly this is the issue:

I am not a SQL person so don't have much experience with this database. The article you posted mentions SQL Server 2005 SQL Backward Compatability. Will that work with SQL Express?

I would imagine it would, but you can always try the first method which doesn't appear to need anything to be installed - try that first and then move on to the second method if necessary.

Re: SQL Express Maintenance and purging database under ePO 5.1

Thanks. However, the first method won't work as it does not show any maintenance plans possibly it due to being SQLExpress which can't do this.

We are going to migrate to ePO 5.1 with SQLExpress 2008 and then a week later upgrade to SQL 2008 R2 server standard. Have managed to perform a maintenance upgrade which upgrades the SQL express to full version of SQL 2008 R2.

Thanks
