Repository choise

Jump to solution

Hey there,

doing some tests with ePO 4.5, SuperAgents and distributed repositories.

Seems to work great, but there is one question:

When i click the red "M" in the tray, and choose "Update Now", a new window pops up where it is updating.

The Agent Policy is set to take the repository with the lowest ping-response - which also seems to work fine.

But during the update when it seems to be finished with the first repository, it takes the second repository - finishes, takes the third finishes and then it says in the last row "Coudn't find a valid repository".

Is this working as expected or is there something going wrong?!

ePO  Server version:

V4.5.0 P1 = 4.5.0.851

McAfee  Agent version:

MA 4.0 P3 = 4.0.0.1494

I attach a *.txt file with the log of the agent during the update-process and a screenshot of the agents settings for the repository choice.

Any help is appreciated.

THX in advance

regards,

serc09

Okay, looks like a file is failing its integrity check - from mscscript.log:

Update will restart with next repository due to verification failure for file: C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\McAfee\Common Framework\Current\MASECORE2000\Mase_Det.mcs

MASECORE2000 is the anti-spam engine. Remove the "Anti-Spam Engine For Windows" from the master repository, replicate to your distributed repositories to remove their copies, do a pull task to replace it, then replicate to your distributed repositories again - do the updates succeed now?

Can you post the agent log and mcscript.log from an affected client machine?

1. is clear how to do.

2. i do it by a server task, so npo problem doing that.

3. how do i do a pull task and what for exactly

4. same as "2."

Was is bad to remove "Anti-Spam Engine and Rule  Update" as well?

Re: Repository choise

A pull task is the task that pulls new content from McAfee into your master repository... so you need to do one to replace the anti-spam engine with a new copy from us so that it will pass the integrity check. (Hopefully.)

Don't worry about removing the antispam update  - it will be replaced the pull task as well.

Re: Repository choise

when i replicate the repository, is it neccessary to do a full replication or is it enough to do a incremental replication?
