Query about update configuration for DMZ servers

Query about update configuration for DMZ servers

We have a few servers in DMZ and not in company network

We want these servers to take dat signature updates daily. Now these servers will connect to McAfee HTTP using a proxy server.

Now these update url needs to be updated in the proxy server however in proxy there is no option to use URL to connect to McAfee HTTP.

It needs some IP address and port to be configured on the proxy server to allow DMZ servers to connect to McAfee HTTP

Since the IP address to connect to McAfee.com will not be fixed, we need to know if there is a way out to ensure the DMZ servers receive daily update

NOTE: we do not have any repositories in DMZ as of now. Hence this requirement

Re: Query about update configuration for DMZ servers

This can be controlled via the McAfee Agent > Repository policy in ePO.

In this policy, ensure the McAfeeHttp policy is listed and Enabled in the "Repositories" section.  Then, in the "Proxy" section, ensure to define the proxy server and port accessible to your DMZ systems.

If you cannot digest the JavaScript contained in your corporate .pac script (via URL), then ask your network team which server (hostname or IP) and port your DMZ servers should be accessing, and which credentials to use.

Once completed, assign this McAfee Agent > Repository policy in ePO to your DMZ systems.

Hope this helps.

Re: Query about update configuration for DMZ servers

We can't provide you with IP addresses for the update site - see this kb. https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB54974 Are they managed by epo? You could either set up a distributed repository for them or open the ports to epo server so they can access the server.
