This is the same with either the vanilla 8.7 patch 4 repost or the custom package we use that has the Outlook parts taken out, yet both of those packages install when run manually on the local machines so Im a bit lost as to where to start looking.....

Any advice appreciated!

Chris

What agent version are you running?

Re: Problems deploying VSE 8.7 (Patch 4) to Windows 7 x64

The McAfee agent that we're using is 4.5.0.1499 (which I think is 4.5 Patch 1)

Re: Problems deploying VSE 8.7 (Patch 4) to Windows 7 x64

I've seen a few cases like this recently - can you try the following?

1) Remove all VSE packages from the master repository

2) Check just the vanilla 8.7 + P4 package downloaded from the McAfee site into the Current branch

3) Try the deployment again and let me know what happens?

With regard to the customised package - I assume you're talking about a package modified with the Installation Designer? If so, please make sure you have the most recent vresion - the first version for 8.7 didn't support Win7, but a revised version was posted a while back.

Thanks -

Joe

Re: Problems deploying VSE 8.7 (Patch 4) to Windows 7 x64

Thanks for the reply Joe

Yesterday I went as far as removing all VSE packages and running a replication so all repositories were the same, and then added the vanilla 8.7 (repost w Patch 4) package before trying to deploy, that came up with the same error again.

Our custom package was made with the October 28 2010 repost of MID 8.7 which I believe was tweaked to include Windows 7 in its supported OS's list when it repackages the file.

The machines Ive had the problem with so far (the first 3 Windows 7 machines) have now all had it installed manually and are being used, although I have a machine set aside for Windows 7 testing on I can use to try some new things.

Cheers

Chris

Re: Problems deploying VSE 8.7 (Patch 4) to Windows 7 x64

Okay, sounds like you've already tried the obvious stuff

Can you post the catalog.z file from the DB\software folder on the ePO server, and the pkgcatalog.z file from the DB\Software\Current\VIRUSCAN8700\Install\0000 folder?

Thanks -

Joe

Re: Problems deploying VSE 8.7 (Patch 4) to Windows 7 x64

Ive attached the 2 files Joe, I put the custom VSE 8.7 package back into the repository last night just to make you aware in case that affects the files.

Re: Problems deploying VSE 8.7 (Patch 4) to Windows 7 x64

Joe did you get chance to look at these files?  Im testing Windows 7 properly now prior to putting a final deployment image together and am still having the same problems deploying Virusscan to Windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit)

Thanks again

Chris
