%%NewEngineVersion%% VSE engine reports to ePO

I have a handful of XP, SP3 and a few Windows 7 machines that do not correctly report the VSE engine.  The Windows 7 machines may repore the 32 bit client correctly but the 64 bit version will show %%NewEngineVersion%%.  I have uninstalled VSE and in some cases the agent but the VSE engine version still reports incorrectly.  The information appears correctly on the workstation but does not report correctly to ePO.  Suggestions?  Thanks!!!

Re: %%NewEngineVersion%% VSE engine reports to ePO

If patch 1 does not solve this problem, you can also add a reg key to the machine to solve this problem.

  1. Click Start, Run, type regedit and press ENTER.
  2. Navigate to:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee\DesktopProtection]

  3. Right-click the key and select New, DWORD value.
  4. Type bReadEngReg and press ENTER.
  5. Double-click the new key, set the Value data to 1 and click OK.
  6. Close the registry editor.

Note, the KB article is about the N/A status, but I also used this to solve the %%NewEngineVersion%% status.
