We are currently applying an image that includes the McAfee Agent to a number of laptops. As part of the image creation the GUID was cleared before the master image was captured. After the new image is applied to a new machine, a new GUID is being generated; however the machines are not showing in ePO in Lost and Found. This was working correctly in ePO 5.1, but since we upgraded to ePO 5.3 I have not been able to get the newly imaged machines to show. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you try looking for these systems in \My Organization level? Perhaps they are misplaced or in a different folder. If you have ActiveDirectory sync setup, maybe they are in different folder.
Now, if you can't find systems anywhere on ePO, then further troubleshooting is needed. Are the ports opened? can you check from a client system? Can you manually try to push Agent to one of those system? what about a new manual installation?
Thanks for the reply. Looks like the issue was with the reverse lookup record on our DNS server. Fixed it up, and now the workstations are registering correctley in ePO.
That's great to hear. You may want to review ePO Server Settings \ Agent Contact Method. I usually place IP > FQDN > Netbios in this particular order.
Just double checked the server settings you mentioned, and that is how we have them set. With that in mind, fixing our DNS records should not of affected the workstation registration in ePO. It all seems to be working fine now though, so happy days. Thanks gain for your replies.
