Hi all,
Currently running ePO4.0patch6 on SQL2000 on a 2003 server with SP2.
The server has both SQL2000 and SQL2005 running.
If we are to upgrade ePO4.0 to 4.6, can I confirm following steps are correct please?
1. Migrate ePO4.0 DB from SQL2000 to SQL2005 - steps as follows (http://blog.jamzarwebdesign.com.au/?p=22)
2. Apply ePO 4.0 patch 7 (or do this first of all then move DB)
3. Run update following the steps in here (https://kc.mcafee.com/resources/sites/MCAFEE/content/live/PRODUCT_DOCUMENTATION/22000/PD22974/en_US/...)
Apart from taking DB backup before each steps, anything I should pay special attention to?
Many thanks for your help in advance.
Hi mandara,
in step 4 i would shut down the ePo Server fist an then backup the Database.
You can upgrade your ePolicy Orchestrator server from version 4.0 Patch 7 or version 4.5 Patch 3 or
later to version 4.6.
Before you begin Update the system that hosts your ePolicy Orchestrator server with the latest Microsoft
security updates. If you install a new Server, install the Virusscan at least.
A important is the read area SQL, read this area precise.
You can pay a special consultant if you have questions or you have not so much knowlede or time too.

After step 11 I would also recommend putting the database in 2005 mode (attaching a SQL 2000 database will set the mode to 2000 compatibility by default). Otherwise it could be that your ePO 4.5 install will fail (no SQL 2000 support).
Download the new ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) Support Center Extension which simplifies ePO management and provides support resources directly in the console. Learn more about ePO Support Center
