Mcafee agent 5.6.0 and VSE 8.8 removed manually but still showing managed in EPO Server

Hi Mcafee Support Team,

I removed Mcafee Agent 5.6.0 and VSE 8.8 manually from user PC and rebooted as well after successful removal but still its status showing managed in EPO Server

following are steps

  • C:\Program Files\McAfee\Agent\x86>FrmInst.exe /remove=agent  (To change managed mode to unmanage)
  • From control panel Program and feature removed Virus scan enterprise  to remove VSE 8.8
  • C:\Program Files\McAfee\Agent\x86>FrmInst.exe /forceuninstall  to remove agent
  • reboot

After reboot I checked for Agent and VSE, they were removed completely but I am confuse why showing managed in EPO server so Is there anything I missed in removing procedure please let me know

Regards,

Ulfat Hussain

Re: Mcafee agent 5.6.0 and VSE 8.8 removed manually but still showing managed in EPO Server

Hi Ulfat,

Here ePO is unaware that the client has had its agent and other software removed. It considers the remote device to simply be 'off' at this time.

Please note the whole ePO /MA estate is not 'driven' by ePO, the estate is driven by the MA, until the MA calls home ePO works on the assumption that the client will call home one day and normal operations will resume.
(The idea is to account for when the user is on leave, or away ill, something like that)
As the MA has been removed that call home will never happen, it will be safe to delete the entry (the ePO object) from the system tree and accept the prompt that will pop up when you do so.
