McAfee ePO - XML Parser 4.0

Jump to solution

Hi,

we're running a mixture of VSE 8.8 with Patches 9,11 and 12.  The latest VSE extensions are checked in to ePO also.

Can i uninstall XML Parser 4.0 and register the XML 6 dll on both the ePO server and agent handler or do the VSE patch 9 clients still require XML Parser 4.0.

I read the article that all was needed was VSE 8.8 patch 10 extensions checked in.

many thanks

These are the products I am aware of that use or do not use msxml 4

HIPS - Does not require MSXML4.0

SiteAdvisor - Requires MSXML 4.0

Endpoint Security 10 will not

RSD - Does not require MSXML4.0

VSEL - Requires MSXML4.0 - Both VSEL 1.9.1 , and VSEL 2.0.2

VSES - Does not require MSXML4.0

MVM Live - Does not require MSXML4.0

MOVE - Does not require MSXML 4.0

PA - Does not require MSXML4.0

DAM - Does not require MSXML4.0

Risk Advisor - Does not require MSXML4.0

VSE - patch 10 and later does not require MSXML4.0

The VSE clients will need to be updated to a minimum of patch 10.  Yes, the extension will support msxml 4, but the clients at a lower patch level will still be sending in legacy format events.  So upgrade the clients and extension first for VSE before removing msxml 4.0

that great, thanks for the reply, that's cleared that up.

What would happen to the clients running patch 9 and connecting to ePO should i remove XML Parser 4 before upgrading them?

many thanks again.

No, upgrade the clients first.  Events may not parse properly otherwise.  It is the eventparser that uses it for legacy event parsing.

That sounds ok, just be sure to also update the extension for VSE to the latest.
