McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange - Policies Not Updated From ePO

Jump to solution

Happy New Year to All!

I have just set up a nice new Exchange 2016 server and installed MSME (8.5.8327.103) on it. The software shows up as installed on the machine in the system tree in ePO and communiction between the agent on the server and ePO appears to be working fine. The issue I am having is that the policies for MSME aren't being applied from ePO. Anyone out there got an idea of what could be wrong?

I have noticed the following in the macompatsvc log file.

2016-01-07 15:56:00.072 macompatsvc(15532.1648) plugin.Info: Plugin client = MSME____8500, Starting policy enforcement.

But I haven't been able to find an article that deals directly with these errors.

Have also tried re-installing MSME and the McAfee Agent (5.0.2.188) software

Jump to solution

Finally fixed by McAfee support

To Resolve:

- Stop agent services on the exchange server

- Prevent any agent updates from ePO to MSME, essentially putting it in standalone mode.

- Backup up policies, assignments and reports for MSME in ePO

- Remove all MSME extensions from ePO

- Install MSME extensions in ePO and restart services on the exchange server. This should apply all default policies to MSME. This can be checked easily be changing the number of DAT files to retain and then enforcing a policy and task refresh.

- Once confirmed as working, update policies in ePO as required and push out to MSME. It is recomended to do one at a time and check enforcement as you go.

Any chance you're running the earlier 7.6 MSME ePO extension, instead of the 8.5 extension?

I have logged a call with support so will post a solution if I get one. Support call has been open a week and I have barely heard from them.

Hello,

I've had the same issue and for my case all I've had to do was to refresh the browser so that the "MSME Web Interface" to start displaying the new ePO pushed policy.

Regards,
