Is the service for sql actually stopping, or just epo losing connection to the database?  Did you happen to run the key migration yet?  Try running the steps in kb66616 at step 11 to regenerate the certificate.  Do you have a backup of your keystore folders?  Check KB90182 to see if that applies.

You also might want to check the orion logs for what errors you are getting.  sql express is limited to 10gb for database size.  Has the database run out of space, or are there out of memory errors in the orion log?  That is located in the epo install directory under server\logs.

Re: McAfee EPO 5.9.1 MSSQL$EPOSERVER service stops automatically

Sql service stops at regular interval and need to start teh sql EPOSERVER service.  Orion log is attached.  Also as described in KB87017

  1. Click Activate Certificates to carry out all future operations using the new certificates once you are satisfied with the saturation of the SHA-2 certificate in your environment.

A backup of the original certificate is created.
  2. Click OK on the warning if you agree to reinstall the agent on any remaining agents that have not yet communicated and received the new certificate.
  3. Perform the following steps when the certificate activation is complete:
    1. Stop the Agent Handler services (including the Remote Agent Handler services).
    2. Restart the ePO services.
    3. Start the Agent Handler services.
  4. Monitor your environment and ensure your agents are communicating successfully before finishing the migration.

Here agents are not communicating after performing till steps 9. So we cancel the migration process as we have more than 3000 nodes in our environment.

Try running the steps in kb66616 at step 11 to regenerate the certificate

Will all agents that communicate automatically if certificate has beeen regenerated without deploying agents again.
