Machines losing manually applied TAGs

We are seeing a lot of machines that are losing a tag that we manually applied.  We think this is only happening on machines we are moving from one ePO server to a new ePO server but are not sure.  Has anyone else experienced this or know what is happening?

Re: Machines losing manually applied TAGs

Hi ,

when transferring an endpoint from one epo to another TAG are always removed. This is made by design. TAGs are located in the EPO Database. If a System sends its properties to EPO the System properties are checked against the TAG definition. If there is a match, the TAG is added to the System.

Manual assigned TAGs are also removed if a System is removed from the System tree. You can check the Audit.log in the EPO Gui if a System was added new to the System tree.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

Re: Machines losing manually applied TAGs

Both the old and new server have the same tags in the tag catalog.  So i dont see how moving the endpoints from one server to a different server which has all the same tags in the catalog would cause the machine to lose its tag assignment.  Maybe its just the way it is but whew... that is a lot of cleanup.

Re: Machines losing manually applied TAGs

Hi ,

do i understand right?? The TAGs are configured to assigned automatically or manually?

Question two: you have to EPO server registered to each other to transfer the systems from an existing EPO server to a new one?

Cheers
