Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

Are you installing SQL as part of the ePO install, or using an existing SQL server?

If you're using an existing one, how are you specifying its name? It looks like it might be as a fully-qualified domain name - if so, what happens if you use just the netbios name of the SQL server?

The error code could also mean "access denied" and it looks like you're using the sa account - check that mixed mode authentication is enabled on the SQL server, and that the sa account is not disabled...

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

It an existing SQL Server 2008 R2.

With the netbios name the errors occurs, the database has mixed-mode enabled.

The ePO Server is fully functionally only the setup won't run.

The SQL Server was installed 2 months ago. The configuration was made by an Knowledgebase Articel.

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

Did you enable Shared Memory, Named Pipes and TCP/IP under SQL manager (and restarted SQL services)?

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

Yes, all enabled.

I found another article but it was for ePO 4.0

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB52995

In the error log of the sql this is found with the beginning of the install process

07/11/2012 13:49:32,spid51,Unknown,Starting up database 'ePOInstallerTestDB-{AF05AA5C-1B53-45DE-9FFD-8F37F329A4BC}'.

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

Can you access the SQL server from the ePO server machine using the sa account?

Thanks -

Joe

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

Yes, the ePO server run absolut normally.

In the core/config it connects successfully to the database using sa account.

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

When asked for SQL connection credentials does your password use special characters? And also does the logged-in user in your windows session has special chars in its username/password?

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

No specialchars in username or password only lowercase and numbers.

The login in configpage works, logon directly on database works, only the sql command from script won't work.

Looks like a case for support.

Re: Installation of ePO 4.6 Patch3 failed

Some other interesting info from your log:

Fehler beim Ausführen der Aktion 'Prod_SetPortsFromDBOnPatch'.

(Error executing action ...)

Could be that the install cannot get the port number.

Check the following file on your ePO server:

Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\conf\orion\

db.properties

Is the correct DB-Port specified there ? Is this a static SQL port ?
