Impact of Microsoft recommendation to enable LDAP channel binding and LDAP signing on ePO

For more information, please refer this https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB92298

I have discussed this topic with our network team and BT. We will raise a change @BT side for implementation.
One additional question came to our mind. As we would like to restrict port usage to ePo, client environment and global catalog, could you let me know if you have any information about global catalog server or do we need to enable incoming traffic for Port 3269 at all which might be a security issue?

ePO Server
Port 636 for incoming and outgoing traffic (ePo <-> clients)
Port 3269 for incoming traffic (global catalog server -> ePo)

complete client environment:
Port 636 for incoming and outgoing traffic (clients <-> ePo)
Port 3269 for incoming traffic (global catalog server -> clients)

Re: Impact of Microsoft recommendation to enable LDAP channel binding and LDAP signing on ePO

KB66797 is the KB for port requirements.  If you enable database mirroring in server settings, that reduces the ldap lookups that epo would use for user based policies, if you have any.  See KB84683 regarding that feature.  It is not actual sql database mirroring, but it caches the ldap info in the database to reduce lookups.

Unfortunately, the registered server for ldap servers doesn't have the option to specify any custom port.  This is what epo uses and are the only ldap port requirements for epo:

LDAP server port 389 TCP port used to retrieve LDAP information from Active Directory servers. Outbound connection from the ePO server or Agent Handler to an LDAP server.
SSL LDAP server port 636 TCP port used to retrieve LDAP information from Active Directory servers. Outbound connection from the ePO server or Agent Handler to an LDAP server.
