Please let me how to check remotely from linux machine whether my windows machines mcafee installed or not........
About the only way is to see if you can browse to the agent monitor e.g. http://IP_ADDRESS:8081 but this only confirms that the agent is installed not VSE. You'll have to go through the log and see any update events or ASCIs to confirm that VSE is installed as well.
Note: You will also need to make sure that your ePO agent policy is set up to allow agent log access from machines other than the ePO server itself.
If IIS is installed the there is the possibilty of a port conflict between the agents built in webserver and a website being hosted by IIS. I believe (i might be wrong) this would manifest itself as error with the agent starting on these IIS machines.
This is something you should have taken into account when planning your ePO installation and made sure you choose a port for agent monitoring that's not used.
In this scenario you have two options
1. Change the port of the website hosted by IIS.
2. Change the port used for agent monitoring in ePO.
Menu -> Configuration -> Server settings -> Click on ports and click edit
Liaise with your network admin and choose a suitable new port for the "Agent wake-up communication port" value.
If you have a look at this thread https://community.mcafee.com/thread/63246 according to the last post on the next ASIC the computers will start using the new port number.
What you told in server end i want change the ports in clients side ....because i don't have permission to change in server end...just for dectecting whether Epo server installed or not...
In that case another route to try is to check for the existance of the install path or log files.
For the install path you can check for the exisitance of
c:\program files\Mcafee\common framework\ or c:\program files (x86)\Mcafee\common framework\
or for log files
c:\Documents and Settings\all users\Application Data\Mcafee\Common Framework\DB\ (XP/ Svr2003)
c:\ProgramData\McAfee\Common Framework\DB\ (Vista/7/ Svr2008)
Thinking as i type...log files are possibily a better option as if you check the modified date you'll get an idea if the agent is active or not.Message was edited by: Tristan on 17/01/14 08:03:41 GMT
