We are testing windows 10 moving to the anniversary edition. All the systems have the McAfee agent installed but EPO sometimes shows no agent and few products. When in this state, you can't deploy anything to it because its showing no agent. The other issue is upgrading the agent from 220.127.116.118 to 5.04.283, the agent installs, but EPO now shows no products installed. This means the system won't get policy updates for the products installed. Very frustrating. Anyone experience this? Thought I would get some info before opening a ticket.
Are you following guideline per KB 87328 (Recommended upgrade paths for McAfee Agent, Host Intrusion Prevention, and VirusScan Enterprise) ?
Also as a test, please remove the agent 4.x completely by using command line (removal of agent 5.x uses same command but frminst.exe is on a different folder): "%programfiles%\McAfee\Common Framework\frminst.exe" /forceuninstall
Then do a fresh install of Agent 5.x, do a wake up call and view system properties.
Kindly refer to the list of compatible products, patches that is compatible with windows 10 anniversary update.
We have all the required updates installed for the anniversary edition, HIPs and virus scan patch 8. Agent 5.04 is on the upgrade list for windows 10. Since we are seeing this on multiple systems, manually removing and reinstalling isn't really an option. And it shouldn't be needed for a system that was working with agent 18.104.22.1688 and now is not with 5.04.
Did you upgrade VSE patch 8 and agent 5.0.4 before moving to windows 10 anniversary update?
The below kb discusses this issue
The system had virus scan patch 8 and agent 22.214.171.1248. This was a new image with the anniversary edition. So the PC wasn't upgraded. All the products were showing installed before I installed agent 5.04. (MNE, Virus scan, HIPS, FRP, DLP 9.4) Now in the products listing it only shows the agent installed. No other products. Agent communication is happening because I can do a wake up on the system. If you look in the "About" on the PC itself, it shows all products installed.
For testing/giggles - 1) remote registry enabled? 2) Was HIPS 8.0 on Patch 8 before upgrade (McAfee Corporate KB - McAfee Agent 5.0.x Known Issues KB83895 )
Also, KB86502 - I have seen a similar issue with VSE8P7 w/4.8.01995 - workaround (exclusion) w/a policy push first was successful before migrating from 4.8.1995<> 5.0.4
Depending on the Error - KB86502 has a workaround which may solve KB86620
