Using EPo 4.6 and HIPS 8.0. HIPS has downloaded and checked in, but I don't see the HIPS policies in the policy catalogue. Shouldn't those have automatically appeared?
Any advice is appreciated.
Sounds like you checked the package into the repository (menu | software | master repository) but you didn't check the extension into the extension manager (menu | software | extensions). The extension is what makes the policies appear. The package is what makes the product deployable.
Is that zip file downloadable from anywhere other than inside EpO? for some reason, altough it tells me it's DL'ing an 11.2M file (HOSTIPS_8000_46), the file itself appears to be empty.
In the ePO, Go to Menu - Software - Software Manager.
Under "Checked in Software" look for the latest product down load. This case is HIPS 8. Single left mouse click.
Scrol the bottom of the window for "Management Extensions". Far right hand right side click on download. KNOW WHERE YOU HAVE DOWN LOAD FILE TO.
Once download is complete.
Go to Menu - Software - Extensions.
Left side window pane at the bottom of the screen look for the ICON button "Install Extension".
Pop Window will appear. Browse to the location where you have downloaded the "Management Extensions". Click OPEN.
The install will take place and may take a few minutes to completed.
Once completed. Go to Menu - Software - Extensions. You should see the extensions.
Now under the Product Catalog drop down you will see the updated product.
