Facing Issues while adding vCenter server in ePO 5.1.1

Jump to solution

Hi,

I'm new to this community and this is my first question. I have got stuck on one issue and need your help to get that issue resolved.

Below are the details of infrastructure and issue (Bold).

1) I have two datacenters ( ABC & XYZ ). Both these DCs are having virtual infrastructure of vSphere 5.5 with two vCenters in each DC.

2) Primary ePO 5.1.1 is installed on Windows 2012 virtual server running in ABC datacenter.

3) I have successfully added both the VCs of ABC datacenter in ePO server. Menu > Register Cloud Account.

4) But while adding vCenter servers of XYZ datacenter - I'm getting error " An error occured while communicating with the server".

Our plan is to install on one ePO server in any one DC and scan the VMs of both the datacenters.

I'm completely new to the ePO product and hence requesting you all to get this issue resolved. I have tried all possible options like restarting the ePO and vCenter servers but no luck.

Regards,

KC

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the response.

The mentioned issue has been resolved. There were no any issues with the Firewall - I was able to telnet the ports. Issue was with the MTU settings on the ePO server. As per Windows standard - default MTU is 1500 on any network interface on the server. I changed the value to 1360 and now all my VCs are connected to ePO.

However, Still I'm checking for the network issue that why communication was not working on 1500 MTU?

Regards,

KC

Hi , Welcome to the Community

If I read you issue correctly, you are able to connect the McAfee Data Centre Connector for vSphere to a vCentre instance in the same Data centre, but are unable to connect to a vCentre instance n an other Data centre.

This sounds like the TCP/IP communications from the ePO server to your xyz vCentre instance are failing.

Are you able to check if your Firewalls are prevent the ePO server from connecting to your xyz vCentre instance, by default the Data Centre connector uses port 443 (https).
