Epo 4 not showing client properties even though the logs show no errors

Jump to solution

I have several pain in the arse client machines, different makes models and uses that just will not report there properties.

They all pull updates fine from the same single EPO 4.0 server.

The client will send (if you use cmdagent /s) the props successfully and will also send them on request if you action a wake up from the console, however, if you monitor the server.log file you can see it receive the props fine, they just will not show in the EPO console, i have tried uninstalling the agent + Viruscan, deleting the client from EPO, generating new GUID's numerous times, the latest v4.0 client, i am out of ideas, it is not a dns or imaging issue.

The client log is....

Re: Epo 4 not showing client properties even though the logs show no errors

Jump to solution

Okay - it could well be the vpn that's causing the problem.  What MAC address does your vpn give the clients? What's possibly happening is that when the machines connect for the first time, because they all get the same MAC from the vpn, ePO thinks they're all the same machine...

Okay, there don't appear to be any errors in the logs... so it's talking to *something* Smiley Happy

Does the machine have an entry in ePO tree without any properties? Or is the problem that it never shows up in the tree?

Also - is this machine connecting via VPN?

Yeah it does connect over vpn but the name resolves correctly to the i.p it is given, i have laptops that do show properties but some that dont,

Yeah the problem is that it shows in the system tree with no properties even though you can deploy the agent via epo, view the log via epo, and issue a agent wakeup via epo, and actually view the props being received at the epo server in the logs, the machines also update there dat files ok

Re: Epo 4 not showing client properties even though the logs show no errors

Yeah even though the macs are the same and the guids and hostnames are differnet this seems to be the case, the vpn machines keep disappearing and mixing there stats and appearing in other parts of the system tree etc, i have just added the vendors mac to the relevant table in the epo database as per another knowledgebase article, should i restart anything after doing this?,

I'm guessing i have to go around and redeploy all the agents again  : (  , before this i was bringing the laptops onto the local lan, deploying the agent etc to get the properties up and then connecting them back via vpn, should i have to do this again or can i just deploy the agents again to the laptops at the other end of the vpn tunnel now i've made this mac address change in the epo database?

You shouldn't need to deploy the agents again: just restart the three ePO services on the ePO server to be on the safe side. The machines should then start appearing as normal.

Thanks Joe, i updated the epo database lastnight before i left, this morning the clients were behaving again, some worrked straight off as soon as they were booted up, others required the agent redeploying, some had other issues

I followed

Corporate KnowledgeBase ID:

KB52949

To update the table

Thanks Joe
