EPO server OS upgradation

Jump to solution
We have ePO 5.9.1 hosted on Windows server 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 hosted on Windows server 2008 R2. 1. Can we upgrade only server OS to 2012 or 2016? not eP version 2. After OS up gradation can we upgrade SQL version?

Hello @User30455258

Please refer the below KB article:

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB82672&locale=en_US

If you want to upgrade your OS in that case please have a backup of the ePO Server and ePO Database and then attempt for an upgrade.

1. Can we upgrade only server OS to 2012 or 2016? not eP version: YES

2. After OS up gradation can we upgrade SQL version?: YES

But make sure that you have the good known backup available for the same.

Was my reply helpful?

As per article McAfee not recommended to upgrade OS.

However we have plan B as below.

We are planning to migrating SQL DB 2008 and EPO 5.9.1 from server 2008 to server 2016, We have all systems in same domain. There is no any external system. However in current Covid-19 situation most of the user are  not connected to VPN, they are connected to external network.

So we need to reinstall agent or redeploy bat file on all systems after migration ? or not require

If yes, please let me know technical reason behind to install Agent, as need to explain to customer.

A: If you are keeping same name/IP address of new server then MA reinstall if not needed. If you are changing then you need to setup CNAME in DNS to redirect communication to new server.
