EPO Restart Issue

Hi,

I have a EPO 5.1.3 using Agent 4.x and 5.x, VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 and DLP 9.3.x, everything is working ok, but i started to get an issue when i restart the server for any maintenance..

 

As soon as i restart, all clients can't locate the local repository and they try to connect to Http Mcafee for there DAT Update.. the solution i found is that, everytime i restart the server, i have to manually restart the Mcafee Application Server and that solves the issue.

It may seem as if the order in wich the Mcafee EPO services restart.. they don't do it in the proper order and thats why i have to manually restart in order,  actually i only have to stop the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator Application Server wich stops the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator Server (restart the first one and thats it).

Every client sees the local EPO Repository, and walla!!

Mcafee EPO and SQL Server are on the same Box.

Any help is appreciatted.

ePO 5.1.x reached end of life/support in 2017. Rather than upgrading legacy versions, I would suggest setting up a new server and migrate your systems to it.

Thanks you for the suggestion... i'm aware of the EOL...   but i have old legacy PC's that i cannot upgrade, and i need to keep the EPO 5.1.3.; this issue did not happend, it just started to appear.., so any solution i would appreciate.

 

* I've already setup the new EPO 5.9 and using it with my clients already migrated..

What is legacy about the pc's that can't be managed on the other server? Most of the software extensions are backward compatible for older versions of the software. So when issue started, what changed? Does the orion log give any clue? Check kb84114 to see if it applies. Otherwise send me the orion log. I will send you my contact info.

Actually, after the issue occurs and before you restart services, send me the server logs from the db\logs folder.

Hi...

I know is been a while.. but i had some external problems i had to attend..  if you could still helpme i would appreciated..  

 

The problem still keeps happening.. randomly..  every 3 weeks for example.. i have the logs you ask for.. but they are very big..  the files are:

EpoApSvr_FBCEPOLICY51.log   (200 MB)

eventparser_FBCEPOLICY51.log (3 KB)

server_FBCEPOLICY51.log   (313KB)

wich one do you need??

The server log, but only when the issue is occurring.

I've email you the server log..

When the issue occured, i've restarted the server, took the sample logs and sent it to you, and then restarted the EPO App Server service and everything work OK.
