Re: EPO 5.9.1 and windows XP

I think the last viable agent for windows XP was 4.8 and agent 4.8 is not supported on ePO 5.9.1.

I am going through the same process at the moment but have we have a limited number so have told them to replace rather than modifying / delaying the security solution just for them.

I may be wrong though, would also like to know other opinions as D-day is approaching for the remaining XP users.

the last agent version supported is  MA 5_0_3 and VSE 8.8. pt.7 , if I import in EPO 5.9.1 that agent and VSE version, can I manage these without problems ?

Re: EPO 5.9.1 and windows XP

ePolicy Orchestrator 5.9 minimum supported extension versions
Technical Articles ID:   KB87142

Minimum suported MA extension build: MA 5.0.4, VSE 8.8 patch9

McAfee Agent (Windows and non-Windows) 5.0.4 EPOAGENTMETA 5.0.4.104 McAfee Agent

VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8 Patch 9 VIRUSCAN8800 8.8.0.548 VirusScan Enterprise 8.8
8.8 Patch 9 VIRUSCANREPORTS 1.2.0.346 VirusScan Enterprise Reports

You can give a try. In case, it's not working then support will have very less scope to support.

Re: EPO 5.9.1 and windows XP

The 4.8 agent does not work with 5.9.1 due to the change in the sha2 certificates.  However, if you install the 5.0 version that will work on XP, the higher extension for the agent that is supported on 5.9.1 is backward compatible to the lower versions of 5.x, so yes, the 5.0.3 agent will work with the 5.0.6 or even 5.5.1 agent extension.

The same goes for VSE.  I am not positive of the version of VSE that is supported on XP, but I can pretty much safely say that patch 4 will work on it, maybe higher.  VSE higher extension will also manage the lower version of VSE 8.8 client.

Re: EPO 5.9.1 and windows XP

Yes I know XP is dead/unsupported but I support many old estates with it still around. Ditto server 2003. I can confirm that agent 5.0.3 and VirusScan 8.8 patch 7 are last supported versions and work Ok with the later versions of the extensions.

Don't do the SHA2 migration though on the EPO till all these old clients have gone.
